Lady of Rage was Death Row's attempt to reach the female market, for her debut, Necessary Roughness. While there isn't anything particularly special about the rhythms, they are well-produced and occasionally catchy, and they often show more care than the lyrics.
Released June 24, 1997 on Death Row/Interscope Records, the album peaked at #32 on the Billboard 200 chart and #7 on the Top R&B/Hip Hop Albums.
